Jennifer Aniston proved herself to be a good sport when she sat down to chat to RTÉ 2fm’s Eoghan McDermott and he put her through her paces with a test on her Irish accent.

The Hollywood actress was in London promoting her new film Office Christmas Party when the radio presenter sprung an impromptu Irish accent test on her.

McDermott compiled a list of rules for Irish Christmas work parties and gave them to her to read out, even providing a prize if she succeeded – a Guinness Christmas tree bauble – “the most Irish thing” he could think of, which Aniston proclaimed to be “fabulous”.

The former Friends star gamely gave it a go, but it has to be said her accent left a lot to be desired and she had particular trouble with the phrase “lobbing the gob”.

In fairness to her, her “to be sure, to be sure” got better on a few attempts.

The actress joked at the end of the interview that she was going to be speaking in an Irish accent all through lunch, saying “Sorry guys, this is how it goes”. McDermott also tried to find out if the actress had ever indulged in any raucous behaviour at Christmas parties in the past, but she remained coy, saying: “I’ve never been too raucous to be honest.

“I’m gonna say i’m usually poised at parties”, she said, leaving a deliberate pause, “In public… that are not at my own home.”
