'Friends' finale named 'biggest tearjerker'

The final scene of Friends has been named the most emotional moment in television history in a new poll.

The closing minutes of the US sitcom, during which the characters handed back their apartment keys, were voted the most tearjerking in the survey for Freeview HD.

The climax of Blackadder Goes Forth, which saw Rowan Atkinson meet his death in the First World War, finished runner-up.

BBC One soap EastEnders claimed a quartet of moments with the deaths of Jamie Mitchell, Bradley Branning, Tiffany Mitchell and Ethel Skinner making the top ten.

Elsewhere, the death of Nana in The Royle Family finished in fifth place.
